Our Mission

The authors of this volume invite its readers to plumb the depths of the New Testament and reach for the top of its celestial tower—activities that will escort both students and teachers into rooms brightly lit and adorned with heavenly scenes that illuminate Jesus Christ as the Messiah. Those scenes stretch endlessly before our gaze as if looking through a window onto a verdant landscape bathed in warm sunshine. With this radiant scene in mind, the authors of this volume ask readers to explore the nooks and crannies as well as the undergirding foundations of the New Testament as we have it, leading all of us deeper into the fabric of this most important collection of texts that, to the delight of hundreds of millions, has borne record of the mortal and resurrected Christ for centuries. The studies herein will take readers into the byways of ancient law and custom, the virtues and flaws of modern translations, the growing trove of manuscripts, the enduring influence of these documents among Latter-day Saints, and the supernal value of the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible. In a word, we are echoing the admonition of the Savior by inviting students and teachers to “hunger and thirst after righteousness” (Matt. 5:6) and thereby to come to know “the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou [God] hast sent” (John 17:3).
