James E. Faulconer

James E. Faulconer (PhD, Pennsylvania State University, 1977) retired in 2022 from BYU, where he was a professor of philosophy and a senior research fellow at the Neal A. Maxwell Institute for Religious Scholarship and where he served in a variety of administrative positions. Besides publications in philosophy, Faulconer has published essays and books for Latter-day Saints, including The Life of Holiness: Notes and Reflections on Romans 1, 5–8, a series of books with questions for scripture study (The Old Testament Made Harder, The New Testament Made Harder, The Book of Mormon Made Harder, and The Doctrine and Covenants Made Harder), Mosiah: A Short Theological Introduction, and Thinking Otherwise: Theological Explorations of Joseph Smith’s Revelations. Faulconer and his spouse, Janice, have four children and thirteen grandchildren.
