George B. Handley
George Handley is Professor of Interdisciplinary Humanities at Brigham Young University and is currently Associate Dean in the College of Humanities. His PhD is in comparative literature from UC Berkeley, and he has taught at BYU since 1998 as a specialist in literature of the Americas and of environmental humanities. His publications include New World Poetics: Nature and the Adamic Imagination of Whitman, Neruda, and Walcott and Postslavery Literatures in the Americas. His creative writing includes an environmental memoir, Home Waters: A Year of Recompenses on the Provo River, and a forthcoming novel entitled American Fork. He and his wife, Amy, are the parents of four children.
